Haleiwa Shops – Electrical & Water Metering & Billing Accuracy Project
We partnered with a group of Historic Road-side Shops in Haleiwa, Hawaii to correct issues with the property’s existing electrical and water metering systems and improve the accuracy and completeness of utility data used for monthly billing. The primary objective was to ensure the property could reliably capture electric and water meter readings for every applicable unit, providing management with accurate information for utility billing and reporting.
Our team identified and corrected metering and installation issues from the previous contractor, including problems with water-meter wiring, transmitter connections, and the existing remote meter-reading system. We inspected the property’s electrical and water meters, verified their configuration, and corrected the system so individual meters could communicate properly with the data-collection equipment.
For the water metering system, our electricians reworked existing wiring, corrected transmitter connections, and color-coded the meter wiring to make each connection easier to identify, maintain, and troubleshoot. Existing onsite structures were also used to securely organize the wiring while minimizing unnecessary modifications to the property.
The project also included upgrading the property’s remote meter-reading technology for both electricity and water. This allows meter data to be collected remotely while maintaining the ability to perform manual readings when necessary. The improved system provides management with more reliable utility data for monthly meter reading, billing, reporting, and ongoing property management.
By addressing deficiencies in the previous installation and improving communication between the individual meters and the data-collection system, the project was designed to provide complete and dependable capture of electric and water consumption data. This gives management greater confidence that utility usage is being properly recorded before charges are allocated and billed.
